RESEARCH
This project focused on branding an event and utilizing visual communication to enhance engagement and participation. We chose a real-life event called National Day of Unplugging, an initiative that encourages individuals to disconnect from technology and reconnect with themselves, their communities, and the world around them. I conducted research by gathering insights from my peers about their experiences with technology and their feelings toward it. Most of the individuals I spoke with expressed that technology often serves as a distraction from the real world, with little meaningful purpose in their lives. Many shared a sense of fear of missing out (FOMO) if they were to disconnect from technology, yet they also acknowledged feeling dissatisfied with their current usage habits. Overall, many people were unhappy with their technology usage and wanted to find a way to regain control.
PLANNING
After conducting extensive research, I identified three key concepts to guide my design: meaningful, powerful, and enhancing. These words became the foundation for my creative approach, representing the core values I wanted the visuals to convey. Regarding the specifics of the event, I mainly wanted it to focus on a juice bar. People are able to come to the juice bar and customize their own "detox" drink with different fruity flavors.
EXECUTION
For this event, I did research on different colors and what they communicate. For example, the color orange communicates energetic feelings, and yellow communicates optimism. These were two colors that I wanted to center my designs around.
